Writing Wednesday: End of Summer

This week we read Jane Kenyon’s poem about the transition from summer to fall.

Do you see any signs of the end of summer and beginning of fall? Maybe you’ve seen the school supply displays in the store or noticed that the days are starting to get shorter. Or maybe you have end of the summer traditions or are starting to get ready to start the school year.

Kenyon writes about the signs of summer ending, but she also writes about how it makes her feel.

List three signs that summer is ending.

Then, list three feelings.

Now, write a poem or prose piece that includes all six!
