Justine Thomas, Managing Editor/The Shallow End Contributor

Justine Thomas is an adjustment counselor at Woburn Memorial High School and was previously a middle and high school English teacher. She spends her free time writing middle grade fantasy, teaching her stepdaughters about Freytag’s Pyramid, making spreadsheets (she loves spreadsheets), and—apparently—co-founding literary journals with her husband.

Ellen Crowley, Editor

Ellen Crowley is a lifelong resident of Woburn and is involved in many community initiatives and works for civil legal aid. She believes that creative writing and personal expression can uplift people and create a new space of compassion and community. Ellen is a daily yoga practitioner and teacher-in-training. She has a husband named Joe, two children, Gabby and Calvin, and a beloved dog named Chloe.

James Fletcher, Editor

James Fletcher is a teacher and Cross Country/Track Coach in Woburn, where he grew up. He graduated Woburn High School in 2007, and majored in English and concentrated in Classics at the College of the Holy Cross. Fletcher then graduated from the Tufts University School of Medicine with a Masters in Public Health in 2013. He still lives in Woburn (right by Horn Pond!), and is an avid writer and reader.

Dorrie Karlin, Editor/The Shallow End Contributor

Dorrie Karlin is the Youth Services Librarian at the Woburn Public Library, where she works surrounded by literature, creativity, and community. A longtime lover of local literary magazines, she is thrilled to be a part of the Horn Pond Review.

Sarah O’Brien, Editor

Sarah O'Brien is a writer from Woburn, Massachusetts. Sarah holds an MFA in Poetry from the University of Nebraska. She is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Boston Accent Lit, a literary journal and press. Sarah loves to paint self-portraits, photograph nature, and walk around Horn Pond and various other bodies of water. Learn more at www.sarahobrien.org.

Emery Popoloski, Editor

Emery A. Popoloski grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Woburn when her husband left the military. She has a love for literature, especially non-fiction, and enjoys spending her days being with her family and reading a good book. Emery graduated with honors from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, where she majored in political science; and earned her Masters of Public Administration & Policy from American University in Washington, D.C. in May, 2019.

Cary Stough, Editor/The Shallow End Contributor

Cary Stough is a poet from the Missouri Ozarks and Children's Library Assistant at the Woburn Public Library. He received his MFA in Literary Arts from Brown University and is an avid reader of post-structuralist French philosophy and picture books.

Noah Thomas, Editor

Noah Thomas is a New England transplant from St. Louis, MO. He currently teaches Theatre Arts at Woburn Memorial High School and has over a decade of experience teaching literature, theology, and theatre. He worked for a circus, he spends a lot of time cooking, and he especially likes electronic music from 1981-1982.
